CFWJ recognizes that when children and young people lack quality basic knowledge, skills and tools, they are bound to remain in a vicious cycle of poverty, they will not attain their full potentials and this will in turn affect their own children or families. At CFWJ we strive to promote access to quality formal education as well as skills training for former Street Children, refugee children, other vulnerable children and young people through Early Childhood Care Development, primary and secondary education as well as tertiary education. CFWJ supports vulnerable and marginalized children not only to enroll but to stay in school. We rollout interventions that have been proven to promote learning both in school and community settings. Our interventions ensure children are adequately supported to read and write, and that schools, families and communities create stimulating, safe, happy and child friendly learning and even pre learning environments. We ensure appropriate teaching and learning materials are in place for use in schools, homes and other relevant settings and also ensure extracurricular learning opportunities and relevant infrastructure are available. We work in rural communities where many families are living below the poverty line in order to ensure that every child has access to an education. We work with these families in order to fight against the inequalities and obstacles that would otherwise stop them from being safe, in school and learning. By doing this, we are hoping that they will grow up to live a better life, free from poverty. Since our inception we have partnered with remote and rural communities and other key stakeholders in order to highlight the importance of education and improve the access to and quality of education in these areas through infrastructure support, teacher training and provision of teaching and learning resources. ONGOING PROJECTS CHILD SPONSORSHIP Child Sponsorship is the heartbeat of CFWJ. We believe that when we empower just one child, we get the privilege of partnering and empowering the whole village or community to succeed in life through basic needed, quality education, business enterprises for a self-reliant and sustainability. Skills Project The skills Project is a tailored 6-months mindset change and skills training program that is designed to help break the cycle of poverty among survivors of sexual exploitation, abuse, and teenage pregnancy, offering renewal and transformation. Through the Skills Project, CFWJ provides vocational, business and life skills training opportunities aimed at enabling the rescued girls find new purpose in their lives and set up market driven enterprises, and promotes girls’ economic independence through savings, loan groups and cooperatives.
